Lawn Tractor Service Ramp?

I have a lawn tractor with mower deck that needs frequent cleaning to remove matted grass from the under side. It's a 42 inch, 3 blade deck and reaching under to scrape away the buildup (ignition off, plug wires pulled!) is a hassle. I've considered a block and tackle hung from a maple tree to lift the front, building ramps (but if I do I'd like something easy to store out of the way, perhaps collapsable), and just running it so long as the blades will turn. Any suggestions? Words of advice? Plans or systems?
Any and all greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

Lawn Tractor Service Ramp?

I had one just like it and it was a pain. I used 2 methods when a foot or so was enough I used 4 drive on car ramps. When I needed more I used 2 of those long ramps used to load RTV into a truck and put them on the edge of my porch and drove the mower part way up. I was using a pressure washer to get the stuff out it was so bad.

My final solution was not to ever buy a mower with a deck like that again. These normally are the ones they sell as high lift or mulching decks. They suck up lots of dirt and mix it with the wet grass and you get almost concrete. It did help to buy blades that were more flat so they did not suck up so much dirt.

My current mower has a shallow deck and it never builds up even if I cut grass as high as the mower.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll try a set of flatter blades; hadn't thought of that, and will certainly keep shallow deck advice in mind when it comes time to replace. You're right, it was designed for a mulching insert, which I took out years ago. It now stands as a lawn ornament in my wife's garden!
In the mean time I'll just use a couple of 2X8 planks against the porch!

I have a chain fall hung from a beam. I stand the mower up practically on its nose. Just need to watch it doesn't start leaking oil or gas. After I clean it thoroughly, I shoot the whole deck with a silicone spray or whatever it is I have handy. I don't know how much good it does but it seemed like the thing to do at the time.
Oh, and I give the oil 5 or 10 minutes to settle back down before I start it.
And there is always the other option. Remove the deck to clean it.
