I am working on a craftsman 8 Hp riding lawnmower. Mdl 502.255712. Can some one help me with the engine mdl number or tell me where to find it on the engine? Need to rebuild the carb.

Think it is a Tecumseh engine.

There is usually a sticker on the fan cowling with these. Their carbs can be a real pain. I have a Toro Snowblower with a Tecumseh 10HP, gave me trouble from the day I bought it. I tried to rebuild with no success, bought a new carb and its been good ever since. I think they had a rash of bad carbs..
