I have two footings in concrete that I need to remove. They are approximately 17in deep by 17in across. Any suggestions on an efficient way to remove them short of getting a jackhammer? They are in clay soil.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Ayuh,... They look deep enough to just leave 'em there, bury 'em,....

If ya really want 'em out, Keep Diggin',...

once loose,... lever it, roll it outa the hole,...

I need to remove the concrete because I need to replace the posts.

Drill a pilot hole in the middle of the post and screw in a 1/2" X 6" eye bolt.
Use a 2 X 4 standing on end and a piece of chain or strong rope and two people to lift it up out of the hole.

Dig around it until you can get a chain around it, hook the chain to your truck. Use a tire that is on the rim and stand it up as close to the hole as you can and lay the chain over the tire, you want it so the tire will roll. When pulling with your truck it will pull the stuff in the hole straight up and out.

an engine hoist will lift that right out.

+1

Get an anchor in it and hoist it out by multiple person or by hoist/wench.

attach gold teeth then wait,,, some gangbanger'll come by soon & steal 'em,,, sledgehammer & point ? crowbar & 2x4 ? ea post roughly weighs 100# so how hard is that ?

ps - like the tire idea ( fulcrum/lever ) - have to remember that 1

One of these will work also.

If you can put a chain around it , use a jack-all ... if it isn't in too deep,, this should work.If not, as was mentioned, keep digging.
