Type of bolt for seismic retrofit

Hi there, I am looking to bolt my mud plate to my poured concrete foundation wall and I am not sure which kind of bolt would be best for my situation. As I understand, there are three main anchor methods for this type of work - undercut, wedge, and epoxy. The foundation is poured concrete, 90 years old, and is in good condition. The bolts I will be using are 5/8th diameter. What type of anchor method is recommended for old concrete? Thanks.

are your bolts simple threaded rod ? if so, epoxy works well,,, i like wedge/lead anchors best,,, why so big ? we use 1/2",,, careful drilling holes so you don't blow out the edge & spall the conc,,, its a pita to repair,,, don't ask me how i know this - i just know :furious:

I read in several places that 5/8 or even 3/4 was the new recommended size for foundation bolting. Thanks for the tips.

It is for new construction, where you have more control over foundation size and bolt placement.
Smaller bolts are preferred for retrofit.
1/2 for up to 2 stories, 5/8 for 3 stories.

Thanks for linking to this. I have read it, but could be useful for others.
