Stained concrete basement.

Ok guys and gals. Hoping to get some good info here. I'm finishing my basement going with industrial look and thinking I want to acid stain my floor. Poured concrete slab is 40 yrs old great condition just needs good cleaning. I was originally looking to farm out this project but I fear the price will be much more than I want to spend But I'm open to still farming it out if price is reasonable. So if anyone has an idea if what it would cost ballpark I'd love to hear my area is outside Philadelphia. Area is approx 1000 sq.

If I choose to do myself I'd love to hear specifics of product by brand techniques cleaning finishing etc. I am pretty handy I just don't know if this is a bridge too far or it could be considered a reasonable diy with decent results. I attached a picture for the desired results.

Additionally I want this to last and be minimal maintenance no waxing or buffing. Please let me hear it.

Re: Stained concrete basement.

Polished and stained concrete is lovely when done right. It does require some skill and some specific machinery.

That picture above does not appear to be stained concrete FYI.

Re: Stained concrete basement.

All of my acid stains come from "Butterfiled Color", and their website has a fair amount of info/videos to explain the process. To get away from waxing once or twice a year will require a somewhat noxious sealer, not the best option for on inhabited home with combustion sources (furnace, water heater, etc..). Waxing over a decent water-based sealer is relatively easy, just apply with a micro-fiber mop, let dry, and done........

we use eiteCrete but there are many others,,, ' 1 ' is the absolute best wax but even ' 1 ' is a sacrificial coating as is all wax,,, agree wtr-bas'd mtls are best for diy'er's,,, wtr-bas'd urethane top coat recommended prior to wax

not aware of the supplier being often picked by pro's but the floor looks decent on my screen,,, urethane top coat protects epoxies in many industrial environments

THat looks more like Metallic epoxy than an acid stain. Most decorative epoxy manufacturers won't sell it to anyone not certified in thier product

Re: Stained concrete basement.

there's enough powder folks so it you want it, you can buy it,,, HOWEVER, the technique/talent/skill to actually create those floors isn't found in all of us

artists generally starve & there's a good reason for that,,, good artisans eat well & drive new pickups
