Sealing old driveway

Is it worth the effort to seal my old driveway? It has some long cracks but they aren't very wide maybe like less than .5" if I had to guess and it dips in at some places. The house is 42 years old and the previous owner (103 y/o) just let the house be. The paint on the house was all original when I bought it which leads me to think the driveway was never kept up maintenance wise if the house was never painted.

Is sealing the driveway still worth it?

Sealing old driveway

Hard to tell without pictures. Generally if there are just a few cracks and even a minor pothole or two you can fill and then seal the whole thing. If a significant portion of it has cracks, dips, big depressions or potholes, that time and money would be wasted and you are better off contributing those funds to repaving it. In that case I wouldn't bother sealing it but I would use asphalt caulk and cold patch to fill the biggest depressions to keep the freeze/thaw cycle from tearing it up even further while I wait to re-do it.

We have no picture, and not even a mention of what the driveways made of.
May want to also add your location to your profile. Just go to quick links to edit.
