My house was built in the 40's and the basement entry stairs are in need of replacement. On the left side of the stairs is a block wall that in leaning in toward the stairs. On the right side is the old well house that has a roof about 1ft above grade. The current water line from the existing well runs through this old well house, so access cannot be completely removed.
Questions: Can something be done other than completely excavating the old stairs and walls? Can the roof to the old well house be lowered below grade, or at least level with the other wall to enable Bilco doors to be installed over the entry?
Just trying to gather possible options before exploring this further. Thanks
