Patio block sealer recommendation
I need to seal some patio blocks. They are actually stepping stones placed to form a small patio. I would like to seal the blocks to prevent them from getting weather damage and accumulating dirt/fungus on them. What sealer do you recommend?

Do you plan to seal the bottom half that is exposed to the moisture that can easily destroy anything put on the surface?
"Patio stones" are generic term and offer no clue to the material properties. If they are 1 5/8" or so thick, they may be hand cast pieces and of questionable quality. If they are actual concrete pavers (60mm or 80mm), they usually do not require sealers because of the manufacturing process. Dick |

They are the yellow stepping stones that home depot/Lowes usually sells. I don't know if they are comprised of lime stone or another material. |

It seems to me that the supplier should have a minimal idea of what they peddle (not quality or properties, but just cheap).
Surface dimensions (width and length) and the thickness could provide a clue. "Stepping stones" is just a generic term and usually relates to low quality products. Dick |

They are approximately 16x16x2. Are Thompson products any good? I think they make a patio block sealer. Are there any other manufactures that make a quality all purpose product. I just need a product that will cut down on the amount of times I have to clean them every year. |

For the protection against water, spills, molds, and deterioration treat the paver blocks with DryWay Water Repellent Sealer:
Treated concrete and masonry will bead or shed water for years to come, reducing cracking, pitting, spalling, efflorescence, rebar corrosion, molds, and algae. Spills wipe off easily. Also, the sealer will not change the appearance or profile of the substrate. Regards Last edited by beenthere; 05-02-2012 at 04:34 PM. Reason: Link to his company deleted |

Dan - Are you spamming and promoting products twice within 13 minutes of joining the form?

If you're not looking to enhance the color, or desire the "wet look", and are simply looking for overall protection from freeze-thaw and chemical wear, I'd suggest going to a real masonry/concrete supply yard and ask what they have for a solvent-based siloxane/silane sealer. Not cheap, but well worth the money.........
