painting basement

My basement was painted years ago. we removed most fo the lead paint that was already on the ways will wire brushes and scrapers. Our walls are very old and not flat or even. we tried rolling them and it didn't work very well. i would like to try and spray the walls but i have never done this nor do i own a paint sprayer. i was gonna buy a pneumatic spray gun but what type of paint should i use?? or is this a dumb idea? i was gonna paint the walls and the floor the same color. the basement gets a little wet during heavy spring rains. Its not refinishable so i'm not worried about it looking great. i won't be hosting any dinner parties down there. just a place for the kids to keep extra toys and the laundry.
