My concrete is BORING!!

Hi all. We recently poured a 24x15 slab of concrete. But the more I look at it, the more I wish we did something else. It's just boring to look at. What are my options to make it a little more "festive"? I know there's some kind of acid that I can put on it to give it a coloration....anything else?

If you were wondering where this post went, it was in the trash. Nothing wrong with the post, but that's what happens when you double post. Two different mods put it/them in the trash. Please try to post ONE thread per question or you may end up with NONE!

Well thanks for that post. I didn't mean to post it twice. When I hit the submit button, nothing happened for over a minute, so I hit the submit button again. About 30 seconds later, it showed my entry was posted. Next time I'll make sure to double-check, possibly triple-check, to make sure that the double-post travesty doesn't happen again.

No problem. Yours is the second one today, so it may be a glitch in the forum.

Heres a easy and inexpensive way to spruce up some boring concrete.

First: Purchase some high quality concrete paint/stain (Behr has some decent colors). Apply according to manufacturers directions.

Second: Rent an etching tool. Preferable one with wheels. This tool will cut out bevel joints in the slab revealing the exposed white concrete.

Third: Figure out what design you want. Pop string lines or use templates to mark lines. Carefully etch the design. Once you have made all your cuts, hose off all dust, let dry and come back with high gloss sealer. Roll on and Voila! Magic for less.
