What do you all use to tint mortar?

Any problem with adding a little water based paint?

Why not just buy the morter that matchs what your your trying to do?
Any concrete supply should have some samples of all the differant colors avalible.
Morter is never tinted with paint.

Are you trying to match something you already have?

Yep. I was recommended to use type S. I did a few samples and they are too dark. Need to lighten it up a little so it blends in better.

I will go by the block plant today and see what colors are available.

If it's just a little darker it's because it has not dryed out yet. It will get much lighter once it does.

Take a sample of what color your trying to achieve to a brick supply company. The have swatches you can compare with. Then buy the closest you can get. DO NOT recommend mixing paint with mortar ever. And if you paint it, be ready to come back next year and paint it again.
