How do I re-paint a stamped concrete patio?

We have a stamped concrete patio that has been painted once. The paint is chipping off. How do I prep for a new paint job?

How do I re-paint a stamped concrete patio?

Ayuh,... Probably the simplest plan would be scrub it with an abrasive pad....

The Best way would probably be sandblastin' it.... clean up, 'n damage control issues aside...

How do I re-paint a stamped concrete patio?

You've kind of scared me Is this going to be difficult. Do we need to "sand blast" or can we just "power wash"?

A stamped concrete deck or pation should have been stained not painted.
Paints just not going to hold up.

I believe the color was originally in the concrete when it was poured. We bought the house with the stamped patio. Then we needed a new pad put in and they could not match the color, so they painted the entire patio. What do we do now?

You could try pressure washing first to see what happens, but to get it all off you may have to blast, using crushed walnut shells may work best for a media.

How do I re-paint a stamped concrete patio?

There are specific products for painting patios which are typically a kind of epoxy coating designed to stand up to heavy use and weather. Do you know what product they actually used?
