Hardie Backer?

I am wanting to start building the framework for an outdoor kitchen. My plan is to build a frame out of treated lumber then cover that in Hardie Backer Cement board and eventually cover with a thin stone. My neighbor is a brick mason and said he'd lay the stone for me, but not sure how soon I'll get around to that, may actually be next spring. So my question is, if I were to frame it this fall, but wait until spring to install the stone will the cement board still hold up? What if I put the scratch coat on it?

My neigbor thought it'd be ok, but figure I'd ask here as well. The hardie backer would also be used on the counter top, until I could get a pour in place concrete countertop poured, but I might be able to get to that before winter.

Thanks!

Hardie Backer?

Personly I would hold off and build it when I had all my ducks in a row to finish it.
I also would do some more research on what the maufactures of that stone your going to use say about what to use as a substrate.

Hardie Backer?

i would wait and do everything at once
you could frame it in with plywood and attach wire mesh to it
apply a plaster coat of mortar to the mesh
then apply the stone
