Hand mixing 6 bag concrete for stamped slab.

How many shovels of 60/40 pea gravel and sand to each shovel of portland cement?

How big of a slab? On a stamped slab, I'd recommend getting a truck. Mixing it yourself it could get away from you pretty easily.

Of course, anything over, say, 3/4 of a yard, you'll be money ahead getting a truck.

I thought "dwarf" was the politically correct word. . .?

Do you even have the stamps to do this?

I'm sure it is, however, I can't think of a less politically correct person than me.

Stamping concrete nicely is an artisan thing. As Joe asks, "do you have a sufficient number of stamps on hand?"

And beyond that, do you know the slump you have to achieve and just when to stamp? Are you mixing a colorant? Do you have adequate help lined up to move things along because you will have a relatively small window to make this happen.

I am not saying a diyer cannot stamp concrete. I have never seen something like a large patio slab turn out looking like much though and certainly remember a few having to come out, be reformed and repoured.
