How do I fill up the open spaces in the wall where the window used to be?

As per Tony's drawing he is only showing 3 nails/screws. I'm pretty sure code is minimum 5 per connection. Even if code is only 3 in your area I would still add a couple more to be safe. And also remember to caulk any edges with Crisco after the installation of your covering as this gives the best seal from termites and rattle snakes. Just remember to take your time! You're not in a race !
