Garage Concrete Sealer

I have been reading about the two different types of sealers: penetrating and coating. I am wanting to protect my garage floor from oil soaking in to it. The penetrating looks pretty easy to apply, basically just spray it on. Does it work? DOes the coating epoxy work? Which brand should I go with?

solvent-based sealers are more protective than water-based

I have used different epoxy based floor coatings with consistent results. Valspar make a decent one. Cant comment on their sealer tho. GL

just bought a gal of sher-wms solvent-based clear conc sealer yesterday,,, don't like it BUT we're out of elitecrete's ' CSS ' which is the absolute BEST acrylic based solvent sealer avail [ no $ int ],,, be aware sealing can be an annual maint issue

all i can say is sher-wms could've been rolled on straight out of the can its that thin,,, CSS is 100% solids & must be applied 2X & diluted w/xylene for best results

sher-wms is probably just the same as valspar, apron, or vest store stuff but my discount's larger from sher-wms

For what you want to use it for,use a polyurathane or epoxy as it forms a film on the surface of the concrete.
