Foundation crack DIY fix from outside
Hi all, its my first post so be easy on me...!!
My wife and I just bought a split level 3 bedroom house in NB, Canada with the intent of a complete gut out and are planning a 2 unit rental property with it.
When cleaning out the basement, I notice a leak coming from a small vertical crack in the front 42" high concrete wall. The previous owner was completely oblivious to proper rainwater management: (this is actualy a long story but i'll stop here).
1: No gutters at all
2. The slop of the earth grade where the leak is is actually towards the house.
I plan on fixing the grade (and adding gutters) this summer but need to fix this leak ASAP so I can start work in the basement.
I was planning on digging along the the outside of the concrete wall where the crack is and using some kind of injection polyurethane kit. Does anyone have a better solution/recommendations.
The house sits nice and high on the lot, so I'm sure that when the slop is fixed and gutters installed, the foundation will hardly see any water.
Thanks in advance
Cheers from chilly NB, Canada.
