Driveway Sealer Issue

I had my driveway sealed in July, 2013. It rained shortly after and because of a bare spot, they came out and resealed the whole thing.

We had a bad winter, but no abuse of the driveway past that.

When the snow melted last month (March), I noticed the driveway was almost completely uncovered from the sealer. I have attached a picture.

The company is planning to come out and do it again, but the owner has no idea why this is happening. Any ideas?
