chimney reline with hvac spiral ducting
I am looking into doing a chimney reline for wood stove insert. Have not been real hot on what is available, most of the flex duct is .oo6 thick.
Came across commercial HVAC spiral ducting, galvanized 26 gauge steel.
could that be used to do the reline. insulating with dry insulating mix.
any reason not to use, seems much stronger that what I am finding
Ayuh,.... You need a chimney liner, or smoke piping,...
Hot air ductin', is Not what ya need....
Flue gases contain some nasty, acidic stuff mixed with water vapor. Galvanized coating is not going to like the heat or that acidic mix. Once it burns away, the plain steel underneath won't last long. Stainless will stand the heat and resist the acids in the soot and smoke.
