Brighten Brick?
 

In my home theres a fireplace...before I moved in there was a significant leak in the roof nearby...the brick had quite a few water (white) stains on it...when I moved in (at least 4 yrs. ago now), I cleaned the fireplace brick (inside the house) with water (and a little lestoyle i think)...ever since the stains have been gone, but the whole thing seems a bit muted (doesnt seem as if theres good contrast between the morter being whiter and the slight red of the bricks)...it could be a non issue, but if I did want to brighten it up a bit (having an insert put in soon) is there a way to go about this?
