Question

Basement corner concrete efflorescence then crumbling

Hi all, thanks for reading this thread...

I noticed that in our basement corner there was some efflorescence, and I didn't really pay attention. Today I tried to use a brush to remove the efflorescence but then found that area was soft and with some kicking, the whole area just crumble and exposed the bare concrete.. here are some photos:

Is this something normal or should I pay any attention to this?? Would it be a good idea to apply UGL DRYLOK waterproofer directly on top of the bare concrete wall? Thanks!
