Approx. cost of digging and pouring 6 footings

We're looking into building a 3 season porch in S/E Wisconsin, 30 miles west of Milwaukee. A couple questions.

1) Approx. cost to have this done? 6 footings/piers 48" deep

2) Does the concrete guy usually determine the footing locations, or do they have to be already marked?

3) The drain pipe from basement to septic tank runs underground in this same area. Is this a deal breaker?

No one here is going to be even thowing out prices. Way to many factors involve. Make some local calls to get a quote.
And no it's not a deal breaker. sewer lins run though foundations all the time as long as your not covering the septic system.

1. More than $5.32

2. On a project like this, the foundation guy would lay it out on his own. If it were a house foundation, he'd get the points from a surveyor.

3. No problem. Just make sure he doesn't break it.

the location of footings would be based upon the structural requirements of the 3 season room. Typically a beam would be used on the end of the structure to support floor loads. the size/type of the beam determines the spans it can support thus determines the location of the footings/piers.

You Oconomowoc guys have way too much money. I thought this was supposed to be a DIY Forum.

I wish. I'm trying to figure out if we can even afford to build a porch

are you building it yourself or hiring a builder to complete it for you.

if you're doing it yourself you can take your plans to a local lumber yard and they will price out the materials for you.

if you're looking to hire a builder I'd recommend interviewing a few local builders that you have qualified to work for you and have them provide pricing for you.

these are the most accurate way of pricing a project that I know of.

If you have questions about procedures, techniques, materials, etc. we have enough talented knowledgeable members you can get those answers, if it's pricing related you will not get the responses you'd expect.

Good luck!

I plan to hire someone to do the concrete work and the roof. I can do all the rest. Before we can even decide on the plan, we need to dig and locate the exact location of the septic tank. No part of the porch can be less than 5' from any part of the tank. At this point, I don't even know if it will be built this year.

I removed the tank cover, and my head would have to be down about 2.5' to see anything. A mirror won't work either. Before I dig, I have to remove a bunch of river rock.
