Acid staining concrete

When acid staining a concrete slab floor, is it best to do it when the concrete is new? Does new concrete have to cure or age before doing it?

We are thinking of using a frost wall and concrete slab floor when we build a 3 season porch, hence the above questions. We are thinking of doing the frost wall and slab sometime before winter, and doing the walls and roof next year. If we did that, is it best to stain the concrete right away, or wait until the porch is built? Thanks.

Acid staining concrete

cured concrete reacts to acid-stain better than new,,, this is because the ' free lime ' is more readily avail AFTER the conc's cured,,, metallic salts in acid stain change the free lime's color,,, its much easier predicting color results when staining as the conc's dry,,, hope this makes sense to you,,, if its difficult to understand, just wait & stain prior to installing the baseboards

make sure you also protect the conc from dirt & abuse,,, not even a board lying on it

Stay away from sealers before you do the staining.

Acid staining concrete

Thanks guys. But how do I rinse the floor after staining if the walls are up? Do I do it before the interior and exterior wall surfaces are up?

Wouldn't it make more sense to stain the floor after the stud walls and roof are up, but before the interior and exterior wall finishes are installed? Thanks.
