Windows/screens for screened porch?

I'm considering enclosing part of a deck to make a screened porch. Ideally, I'd like to have screens that are interchangeable with windows---the screens would be on all summer (when it never rains), and the windows would be on for the winter/rainy season (without the screens). The windows just need to keep the water out. Is there any sort of system like this? I'm on a budget, so price is a big consideration. Thanks.

There are places that make custom windows for porches like that, but plain old storm windows from big box work well and are cheap.

Screen Porch Windows

Agree the easiest, and probably least expensive option, is to use storm windows. You can either frame out for standard windows or have them custom made. Custom made windows will be an investment. From personal experience, make sure you have a safe place to store them so they won't get broken during the summer months. I'd usually end up cracking a corner or breaking the glass on at least one window per season.

Another option are Eze-Breeze windows that are meant for what you want to achieve. More expensive but fit almost any opening.

Doc Boob - if you are truly on a budget my grandfather accomplished what you want to do with one set of screens he built himself. Every fall he wrapped them with two layers of plastic.... Poof! Rain/Wind/Snow kept out.

And, since he was such a penny pincher, he used the same plastic for 20+ years.

It's not the prettiest solution, but it would serve the purpose.....
