windows on older home
I am wanting to replace all of the windows in my home. It is a 1950's house with the single pane sliding windows and the metal is coming off the glass, so I think it is about time. I was wondering if anyone could tell me of decent aluminum replacement windows from Lowe's or any local stores like that. I looked at some replacement vinyl windows, but was told that in our area, west texas, they turn yellow and start to crack. It is usually around 100 all summer with almost all sunny days.
Also when installing replacement windows I will just tear out the old frame and measure as close as possible so the new one will slide in and just screw in with just silicone to seal correct? I have a brick veneer, so would there be anything extra to make sure it is sealed. I will definitely make sure there is a sill pan there for it. Thank you |

Don Young is based out of Texas and they make a very nice thermally broken aluminum.
