Window won't stay open

I have an older vinyl window that I closed yesterday and now it won't stay open when I try to keep open. It just falls down fast. I've looked at this thing high and low and cannot figure out the mechanism on why it won't stay open. I've attached some pictures. Anyone have an idea what it may be? Hard/expensive fix? I appreciate all of the help.

You may need to pull out the pane to find the mechanism in the track.

Re: Window won't stay open

You'll need to remove the sash to get at the failed parts .

It looks like you have compression type jamb liners . Set a short scrap of 2x4 on the sill (to keep the sash from closing completely) .

Try to tilt the top of the sash in while pushing on the jamb liner , one side at a time .
