Window seals on the inside!
I hope this is a good place to ask questions about windows! On the inside of where the window would meet the window frame, I can push on the window and see where there is a crack and it makes it bigger when I push..now I can't tell if it is drywall cracking or what it is but I am curious if it would be smart to put some kind of caulking material all along the inside in order to ensure that there is a seal between the too. Any tips let me know! Thanks a lot!

And without a picture and the full info where confused to.
Wood window, vinyl, replacment window? Is the gap where the window sits in the track or the trim on the face of the jamb. |

Sounds like the entire window frame has come loose or was never nailed properly.

That is a sealant interface.
Tape off the drywall with painters tape to get a nice clean line and caulk with a good interior latex if you require it to be paintable.

if those cracks get bigger when you push out on the window = the window is not fastened well enough to the structure. and i don't see caulk making it stronger to any real degree.

Window seals on the inside!Quote:
Many windows have pretty minimal wall thickness and can/will deflect at that location if you push on them. He could put 40 screws in each jamb and it still might move at that location if he/she pushed on it right. I agree that you should check it out but there are just some products that move regardless.

I'd remove what old caulking I could and just apply a new coat of quaility latex caulking prime and paint over it.
Quaility caulking does not say Painters caulk on the lable. It says paintable. $3.00 a tube caulking is not the same as the one that cost $5.00 +. |

Use a utility razor knife and cut out the old caulk that is pulling loose and replace with new caulk. you could just re caulk but you will be re caulking again in 6 months if you do not take out the old caulk.
