is normally used for window head flashing?

All I can find is 8" but that seems awfully wide to me. Is that what I need?

Not even sure what your asking.
Are you talking about Z moulding that goes at the top of the trim over a window that acts like a drip cap?
If so you can buy that already formed.
8" sounds more like preformed fascia.
And you never want to prescore coil stock before bending. That how it's cut to length or width, score, bend and it snaps off.

Does not tell us enough.
Still need that picture.
Do the windows have a built in J moulding?
What are you using for trim, brick moulding, 1X's?
If all your seeing is the flat jamb sticking out and the trim sit's up against the jamb then you only need the Z moulding over the top of the trim, not the window.
Got a brake and some coil stock? If so you can make your own Z.

For some reason it puts the forward slash I was trying to show off to the left, on my screen it shows it out on the tip of that L where it belongs where it acts as a drip deflector.
