Warped Solid Mahogany Exterior door..

I have a Masonite Brand Mahogany door with big oval glass in the middle. The top right corner is slighlty warped. I have full sun hitting the door from noon on. In the summer the door is straight. But in the winter it warps the top right corner allowing a draft. Does anyone think a storm door to seal off the draft will help with the warping issue also?....here's a pic of the door. I think the previous owner got it from Homedepot..Thx in advance for the help..

Beware Masonite doors

i would want a good storm door, if for nothing else, added security.

Warped Solid Mahogany Exterior door..

Hey listen I figured that being as it came from Home Cheapo..but what can I do now. Im not one to bandaid stuff but can't afford a new door. I'm actually thinking if buying nice solid door and moving the glass into the new door. Door looks awesome. Just refinished it but in the winter I get that warp in the corner. Previous paint flakes right off. I stained it..3 coat of exterior poly after. Sucks the door is warped. U can't correct that..right?...once its warped its done..no?

well, anything can be fixed. what it comes down to is = is it worth it ?

you said top right corner. is that the hinge side or knob side ? perhaps you could shave 1/8th" off the top and side. then screw 1/8th" pieces of steel in place.

or, as you said. a storm door could keep the main door just warm enough to not warp.

do you "have" to use this door every day ? if you can leave the door unused for a few days = put a piece of wood, insulation board, or something, on the outside to seal it off. if the door unwarps, then you have your answer.

Knob side..top of the door...good advice. I know for a fact that the sucker goes back to being straight after the weather is warmer. Has happened for three years. You know that not a bad idea. Maybe ill router out the half way down the door and put a piece of steel in it to keep it from warping. Sounds like a plan. When the weather allows it to snap back into place I'll try it. Let u know what happens. Might take a year though to get back to u on that one. LOL...but I will...Thx man..

Dark colored door, direct sun, Hmm.
Any door company I've every delt with has warnings about using to dark a color when it's in the dirct sun.
Adding a storm door will just turn that door opening into a solor panel and add to your problums.
I've seen two of that same door both brand new, both did the same thing.
The factory sent someone to replace both doors at no charge.
It took a while because they sent a rep. that was 1-1/2 hour away to first look at the door.

I didn't buy the door. Thats my biggest issue. I wish I had a reciept. There is a manufactured date on it though. I would have never did that..I knew about the dark door and sun theory...I'm standing 15 feet away from it right now and the draft is hitting my feet....LOL. gonna try to change the seals for now.

Don't know?...ask someone...
