Warped Door

Moved into a new house and noticed that the top left edge of front door (looking from inside) bows out slightly so it is no longer flush or recessed from the jamb. With door open I put a level horizontal across top area and the level doesn't sit flush. Door is warped, right?

What can cause that? Porch has a pretty decent covering so I don't imagine rain reaching the door. I live in Austin, TX and we have decent humidity but I would think a front door could handle that.

Most likly just a defective door, it happens.

Did it sag downwards on the knob side? If so, sounds like it's not supported properly on the hinge side and has sagged.

hmmm, I'd say more than likely it was a defective installation. Retrofit doors can be a tricky install, even more so when you go down the line of more "cost-effective" options. If the frame is not installed square in all directions, it can lead to what you have described. The real question is, do you see light or inconsistency around the reveals?

He said it's a new house. Sounds like a jacked installation to me causing it to sag. Get in get out $$ homeowners problem.

I should clarify a bit. When I said new house I meant new to me so I don't think it is an installation issue. It is about 16 years old. Problem is on door handle side. I can see a bit of light on that side above door. The hinge side seems fine.

I shouldn't have said "retrofit", a door install is a door install regardless.

I should also rephrase the reference of an installation issue, to read alignment issue. My point is that regardless of whether or not it was installed improperly or is just sagging, it is more likely to be out of square than it is for the door to be warped... Do you have any pics?

Ok, got some pics.
Pic 1) Shows top of door on hinge side. You can see the door starts flush with the frame then as it moves towards knob side it bows out to about flush with the frame trim. That is about a 1/2" difference.
pic 2) Shows speed square in corner on knob side. Other side is barely off from being square. Frame comes out about 1/8" but I would think that would make it so you could see light on the vertical side of the frame, not the top.
pic 3) Shows level laid across top of door. Level is flat against hinge side. Pic shows knob side. Level comes off door about 1/8" or so.

So what do you think I am looking at here? Warped door? Frame not square? Or both?
