tuckpointing above window


Hello! The young man who tuckpointed a wall of my house ground out this area on top of the window:

and he wouldn't fill it back in again because he said something about he thought there should be a piece of metal in there. Does anybody know anything about that?

Not an expert, but I think you are talking about a lintel.

there appears to be a brick lintel then the junk flashing below. a good grade of sealant at flashing lintel is required
