Trick to stop water damage on bottom of outside door frame
Hello,
I installed a new door frame for my client last year. They called me back this summer to find water damage on the bottom right of the frame. I suspect that it is from snow accumulation over the winter. Does anyone have any tricks to deter this from happening in the future? Thank You, Eric N. http://www.doylestowncontractor.com |
Posting a picture would help to figure it out.
Just a few guesses, the door is set closer then 4" of any stoop, deck, any solid surface. Doors come primed not painted, did anyone paint it two coats of ext. paint? What's under the threshold on the outside to support it and keep it from twisting? |

Edge prime and seal prior to installation. |
Damage is to door frame? Prime, paint/seal all frame sides and ends visible and hidden B4 install. Frame sits on threshold. Trim does not contact deck.
Awning, roof, walls to keep snow and rain away from door, but nothing to trap snow or rain or prevent snow from blowing away. Tricks? Wand to make snow disappear. |
