Steam cleaning a slider.

Our house was built in the 70's (see avatar). We have three sliding patio doors. We also have three large dogs with slimy noses. I picked up a handheld steam cleaner to use around the house, clean grout etc. and the paperwork said it could be used on windows.
I'd love to try it on the dog slime, but I want to be sure there are no issues with the heat affecting the double pane seals.
Do you think its safe to try?

Stick with the Windex, a steamer may or may not work but it would be a very expencive mistake if it did not.
