I received a quote form a window and door place for (2) 45x55 vinyl double hung new construction windows. I told him I wanted an STC rating of about 35 and he said it would be laminated glass. He through some rating of at me of .03 and another option for .09. This is rough because my friend who is a contractor has to buy them form him. But he quoted me the following:

The Barington= $~ 325 per window
The Pro= $~400 per window

Sounds like this is through a building supply house?
Laminated glass can be very pricey, so those numbers may be about right. I prefer the Imperial LS/Elements from SL, but the Pro is solid.

I don't sell much softlite , but that sounds about right. I generally like to see a .28 or better from a double pane, and without a really heavy dose of low-e that would lower the SHGC too much for your area. The better lines in HiMark and SL are getting .25, .26, .27 and with SHGC's above .25 even with grids. Be sure to consider the air infiltration ratings as well.
