Sealing Windows

My house was built in 2001. It is brick with vinyl siding. The windows on the side with the brick were not sealed on the exterior. There was no silicone where the window met the brick. I went around and sealed all with silicone.

Do I need to silicone around the windows that are on the side of the house with the vinyl siding? There are trim pieces where the siding would be exposed.

Generally no. If you need to caulk the window to the j-channel ("siding trim") to get a seal, then you have some other problems and you'll likely see some water leakage soon.

What he said...........and silicone is the wrong thing to use on vinyl, it will not stick to vinyl. Use urethane caulk of siliconized latex.
