Screen Door Dilemma

Hello,

I bought a $50 wooden screen door for my front door. I now see that the handle on my entry door extends into the area of brick mould where the screen will sit and the screen will hit the entry door handle. The screen is an inch thick and the brick mould is an inch deep where the screen will go. The entry door handle protrudes into the screen by about 3/8". Should I shim the brick mould out so as to add clearance? Does someone make a deeper brick mould?

Screen Door Dilemma

The screen fits the house. And I like the sound they make when they slam. I like the hook and eye latch, too. I was going to put two or three coats of paint on all six sides before I hang it. And it's on a covered porch so it should never see water or direct sun.

I will try to figure out how to take a photo with my phone and upload it. My camera has gone missing.
