replacing a pane - garden window
1 Attachment(s)
Trying to buy a house and would like to know -
can it be done and how difficult is it to replace a pane in a garden window. At the time I saw it I thought it should be easy, but on second, third and fourth thoughts, maybe not... the cracked pane is the right side pane. To make things even worse, I don't remember if it is single or dual pane - any help, comments would be helpful. hopefully, it is easy rather than have to replace the whole unit... but let me have the news... thanks, Jeff |
So long as you can pull the window apart it should be no big deal. The pane should be held in place by something like glazing clips on the inside. Pull those and the glass should come out. You may have to remove some glazing putty on the outside too. Take the pane to a glass shop and have either a single pane or a double one cut for you if that is what it turns out to be. Glaze it in place and reassemble the frame.

makes sense
to be able to replace a pane instead of the whole unit, but sometimes manufacturers don't make sense.
thanks for the help, I appreciate it. |
