Replacing double pane french door glass inserts

Came home a few days ago to find the outer glass on one of my double pane french doors still intact, but cracked into a few thousand pieces.

Was quoted $375 by two different glass companies to replace it. Crazy!

After searching online, I see that I can get a new set of doors for that cost.

Found a new unused french door insert leftover from construction for $40 on CL int he same size as mine. New cost $125

Going to try and install it this weekend, any pointers on the install?

They are steel frame with foam core so I assume when I remove all the grid screws the insert should come out somewhat easily except for some caulking.

Be sure to have proper gloves and protection equipment on.

You are on the right track and the glass swap is pretty straightforward.

All done. the craigslist add was actually mis-measured and the frame was to narrow, but I found an insert an da builder's upply surplus for $99 and got it installed in about 20 minutes. All in all a pretty seamless job, it worked great.
