Replacement windows - where to purchase?

Hi All,

I would like to replace the windows on my house, I've done one already. I know the type of windows I'd like and its a pretty easy job. However, it seems impossible to find a way to purchase the windows. What's strange is the vast number of DIY articles and videos on 'how to' replace a window but none address where you purchase the window.

I'm speaking of Vinyl replacement windows, not new construction. Has anyone done this before, if so where did you purchase your windows?

Not knowing your location -
You can get vinyl replacement windows at HD, Menards, ABC Supply,
Allied Supply, Richards Supply, etc...
Phone book - "google" search.
There may be independent supply houses in your area.

Though mentioned, I would avoid big box stores, those windows are generally junk. Building supply stores, lumberyards, etc., have quality products and people that know what they are selling.

Find the window that you want and you can probably work backwards from there.

Good advice above... I'd put in the research first to find a couple choices that you like, then try to find some place to buy them. Builder supply houses will have some products that are better than you can find at the box stores, but they usually have some junk too.
