Replacement window insulation

I am allergic to everything! So I'd rather not insulate the window cavities when they put in replacement windows. 1) Does isocyante foam cure COMPLETELY inside those cavities on the sides of the windows? 2) How much heat loss can I expect by not insulating them? They're not insulated now (150 year old house.) House in New England.

It is not polyisocyanurate foam that would likely be installed in those cavities.

You can remove the weight box cover and install batting of some sort (recommend to use something like Roxul) and there shouldn't be anything offensive to you allergies in that.

If you do have foam injected in it, it would be polyurethane and after a day or so, there is no smell to it.

For the smaller gaps you could use Dap Latex foam.

The latex foams have VOCs s well. Both shouldn't smell that bad once they are cured up.

+1 on insulating/sealing those cavities. Always a good idea. :)
