replace replacement windows

I would like to replace my replacement windows. The former owner bought the cheapest replacement windows he could. Now all the seals are broken and there is no thermal barrier.

My question is, where would I measure the old replacement windows to correctly fit new replacement windows?

The fool-proof way would be to pull of the stops and just measure the window that is already in there... Otherwise, measure from the insde of each interior stop, then add 3/8".... You'll be guaranteed to cover, and give yourself the necessary space to make sure you're able to get the new window installed square.

+1

Pull the stops on one window and see what the additional depth is. Once you have that measurement, you can just ad it to the inside measurements on the rest of the windows.
