Refinishing door new weather stripping recommendations
I am repainting my front entry door and the weather stripping looks to be either bronze or copper, and is like what is the attached amazon link.
The main problem with this type of weather stripping is where the deadbolt and handle set is it basically has no weather stripping. I want to strip the paint from the door, and door jamb and repaint. I am trying to determine if I should leave what is on the door or buy something new. It seems like something like this may work better for a wood entry door.
Anyone have a recommendation?
Bronze fin weatherstripping works great and is not usually subject to the same over compression and resultant loss of seal that other types are.
Magnetic weatherstripping works great on metal doors but the standard compression style is not as good and the stuff that you already have in my opinion.
I agree that type works great, I was still getting some small air leaks so I added this one in addition and now have 0 leaks.
Any Hardware, Lowes HD all have it.
It's best to predrill the holes for the screws so you do not strip the heads or split the jamb.
