Old garage window has small panes, one needs replacing

What kind of caulk would I use on the outside to attach the glass pane, and make it sealed and waterproof?

Welcome to the forum Judy.

You want to use "window glazing compound" not caulk.

There are plenty of YouTube videos that can show you the process.

Going to need way more info on exactly what it is your trying to do.
Pictures would be really helpful.

The stuff that Kwikfishron is talking about is a simple process--

About all you need is a narrow putty knife---

Remove the old glazing compound (a sharp knife helps)--check and see if the glass is secure-
Add a few 'glazing points' if the glass is loose--they are little flat metal pin that are just pushed in with the putty knife---Dust off the work

The glazing compound is like soft children's clay---roll a snake out of the putty--press in to the wood with the putty knife--smooth it out with the blade---wait a week to paint--

Based on the description, I'm gonna say that kwikfishron nailed it on the head.

Ya know, now that this all got brought up I've seen glazing compound in a caulking tube with a special tip.

Anyone ever used the stuff?

The old fashioned way is so simple that I never tried that caulking tube stuff--
