Need help with wood double hung windows

Our house was built in 1986 and has original wood double hung windows. We are in the process of selling and I want to be sure all windows are operable. Today I had to free a stuck top sash which had been painted. When I finally got it to move, two "clips" (for lack of a better word) fell out of holes in the bottom of the upper sash. I have included a photo. I dont know what these are or how to get them back in place. Please help!

no pics, but they might hold the springs in the ballast boxes that help to hold and move the sash up and down????

I pretty sure that's what those are. They go through a spring and then into a space on the bottom of the sash to keep tension on the springs to help the sah go up and down . can you see the bottom of the sash? any imprint in the paint or finish?

Yes, there is a "hole" for lack of a better word where this clip fits in on the bottom of the sash. The channel for the spring is inside there. Looks like part of this clip may also fit into the track the window slides on?

How do reconnect this, and where can I buy more if I need them?

Thanks!

examine the clip and see if the piece or notch that the spring connects to isn't broken off. If it is your going to have to find new ones. Think of where the contractor that built your home might have bought the windows and start there. your going to have to try and hook the spring and draw it below the sash to re-install clips. It might take a little bit of work. can you see the springs inside the balance or ballast?
