Need help storm door hard to close

Over a year ago I had a new storm door put in.
Now whenever I close it have to have to slam it a couple times to make it shut.
I kid of hits the door frame on the open side.

Any idea whats wrong or how to fix it?

You have to adjust the set screw in the back of the closer to adjust the pressure for the piston.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

Is there a safety chain on the door? If not also look at the shaft on the piston to see if it's bent.
There should a philips head screw on the piston that can be adjusted. Unscrew it a little at a time and test it. Lefty loosey.

If it is hitting on the latch side, adjusting the closer will not help. Take a level and see if the hinge sides z bar is plumb. If not, remove the face screws from the upper half and suck it over by tightening the return side screw, then re-install the face screws in the new location. If the hinge side is good, then you need to simply re-hang the latch side z bar. Take out all the screws, close the door, and fasten when you have a nice, consistent reveal from top to bottom.

Here is a picture of HomeSealed working on a storm door in just such a manner.

Thanks for the help so far guys.
Heres an update
I checked it today and its hitting towards the top of the door on the side of the jam.
When I lifted on the handle it worked better.

Does this change any advice you have given?

Im not too knowledgable on this stuff so im clueless and learning as I go along.

Thanks

If you lifted the door slightly by the handle and it closed better, the odds are the screws on the hinge side of the door need to be tightened. The ones that attach the door to the hinge or the hinge frame itself.
You may even need to replace them with longer ones to grab and hold on the hinge frame.
