My wife recently bought some antique door knobs for our interior doors. When I got them, I realized that it wasn't just switching out the knobs. I did some research and found out that they need a Mortise Locking system. Can I just fit the lock into the existing door even though I have the original circle home (obviously digging out for the new lock) or do I have to buy new slab doors and cut it all in myself? Anything to do with Mortise Locks is greatl appreciated
No clue what an circle home is.
Baldwin and Schlage both make a lock set that will work with the holes you have now but will except the old style screw on knobs, and have face plates that look just like the old fancy ones.
Baldwin is the best but super high priced.
I had to Order them from Lowes. I think I only paid about $38.00 each for them.
I tryed to find them on line but my computers having a fit tonight.
Sorry about that. I meant hole instead of circle home. I'll be sure to look into it. Thanks
