Masonite Door Lite removal

I have a Masonite HD Steel door with a Door Lite (window) in it and I was curious if I can remove the window before I paint the door, or do I have to try and paint the door with the window (trim) still in the door?

There is 12 screws holding the window in, and I have a pack of plugs that go in the screw holes, which suggests to me that it's ok to remove the window for painting.

I'm just unsure if there was a sealant used when they put the window in.

Masonite Door Lite removal

A royal paint to remove the window and it would break the sealent that stops it from leaking.
Just use a quality 2-1/2" sash brush, your going to need one anyway to paint the low spots on the door panels.

Masonite Door Lite removal

ya its a pain peeling the window out of the door but it is possible. just leave it in and use a good brush or buy some good quality painters tape like frog tape and tape it up good.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll try out my new spray painter.

Thanks again.
