Low headroom garage installation

I'm looking into replacing my garage doors and the existing ones have a low headroom kit installed on them. I want to install new doors including new hardware also so reusing the old tracks isn't at the top of my list. I notice that the clopay garage doors that I buy at home depot will require me to purchase the low headroom kit also for $70. Since I have two garage doors I want to replace that will be an additional $140 for the two kits.

Is there a way I can get my garage door to operate without the low headroom kit and save $140 for the two doors? It would easily pay to replace the old garage motor!

Any subjections?

I've seen these on amazon but can't imagine how they work. Any personal experiences?
