LIftMaster garage door remote programming

Battery replaced on remote for garage door opener but I don't know how to program it to open. Currently the remote doesn't work.

Remotes should not require re-programming after replacing the battery. If the garage door still doesn't respond to the remote, after programming, and a good battery is installed correctly, the remote is likely defective. You might be able to get it checked at a garage door service shop. It would likely cost more than a new remote to have someone come out.

There are differing sequences to reprogram a remote. As Bill said, get the instructions specific to your unit.

Liftmaster is made by chamberlain, any chamberlain opener I have been around that was made in the last 20 years you simply push the learn button on the back of the opener, the LED beside the learn button comes on and then you press the button on the remote you wish to use, the led will blink and then go off. Holding the learn button for several seconds will delete all the codes.

You should not have to reprogram the remote after battery replacement. If your opener wall control has a vacation lock, make sure it did not get activated as that disables the wireless capability.

I totally forgot about that lock feature. Though if any remote works, it wouldn't be locked. As I recall, my really old Chamberlain had remotes with code switches, but the head had a programming button.
