Interior Sliding door

We wanted to do a pocket door but as you can see there is a load bearing pole(not sure what it is called) that won't allow that. We would like to put a sliding door in. Do they sell these doors? I guess we would have to put some sort of track on the ceiling and floor? Thanks

BTW-- we are getting rid of that baseboard..lol

You have two choices for sliding doors---make the wall thicker and use a standard pocket door frame---or use barn door track and use a surface mounted door---

Thanks a lot Mike. Yes the barn door track and surface door is what we want now. But now sure where to start as far as buying the right material and where. I guess the door would have to be custom because of the 5-6 foot opening?

That hardware is not hard to find--Google barn door sliding tracks---you will find everything from utility looking galvanized to fancy hand wrought steel.

Depending on your budget, you could make the door or pay a cabinet or millwork shop to build one for you.

Another option and easy to do would be a French door.
